There’s No Place Like Home

Oh, it’s true. Vacation with children is work. Lots of work.

But work can be fun!

We just spent the last week working/vacationing in the great state of Wisconsin.

First stop, camp to visit my brother and his family!

Lily got to participate in their annual Fourth of July parade. She threw out the candy,

and Sophia caught it on the sidelines

Got to wear fun hats with cousin Mykaela

but unfortunately, no fireworks since the weather has been so dry up there and they didn’t want to run the risk of starting a Colorado-like wildfire. Understandable.

We then drove south to the Dells and spent the next couple of days splashing at a hotel/waterpark complex. This place was ah-mazing. Less like a hotel and more like it’s own little city.

We had a regular hotel room, but later found out that there are 2 and 3 bedroom timeshares that you can rent for almost the same price. Considering the fact that we went to bed at 8:00 every night, I’d say that’s definitely worth looking into next time

The hotel has three outdoor waterparks, we spent most of the time in the one closest to our room:

The girls laid claim to this hatched dinosaur egg and tried to keep all the other kids from coming in. We put a stop to that pretty quickly Tell me these mini lounge chairs are not the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen

After splashing in the waterparks for a couple of days, we headed back to the camp to spend some more time with my family, then it was on the road again back home.

I think this pretty much sums up how we all felt at the end of it!

We are so incredibly blessed to have the luxury of leisure time to spend with our family!

And now, back home to early bedtimes, regular naps, and laundry. Lots of it.
